Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.

What is heartburn?Acid buildup and burning while eating, or] gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) are conditions where your stomach contents get acidic and cause stomach acid to flow away from your intestines. In this study, the prices of Nexium 40 mg, Advil 24HR, and their differences between the two generic drugs were compared. Data from the Tijuana region were analyzed to determine the differences in costs, including the cost of each medication. This was done in a retrospective and cross-sectional design. In total, 14,631 adults with an estimated annual cost of $2,933.27 were randomized to the treatment with the two drugs. Average costs (2010 US dollars) for each drug were $1,827.09. Average prices for both drugs were $1,827.30.
Methods:The study was conducted in two parts; part 1 (Tijuana) was a cross-sectional analysis conducted using a retrospective data analysis of Tijuana region. Part 2 was a retrospective study of Tijuana region using a cross-sectional analysis using data from the US dollar exchange rate (DEG) to compare the prices of two commonly used antidiarrheal drugs, Nexium 40 mg, versus Advil 24HR, 40 mg, for adults. Both drugs were used for the analysis. Data were collected on monthly basis. The cost of each drug was determined using the 2010 US dollar exchange rate (DEG). The average cost for Nexium 40 mg was $6.89, whereas the cost for Advil 24HR was $3.58. Average prices of both drugs were $1,827.30. The differences between the two drugs were statistically significant for costs (p < 0.05). In part 2, the same analysis was conducted by using data from the US dollar exchange rate (DEG). The costs of both drugs were compared using the 2010 US dollar exchange rate (DEG). The difference in the prices between the two drugs was statistically significant for costs (p < 0.05).
Results:Comparatively, 20,541 (9.2%) patients were included in the analysis of the Tijuana region. In part 1, the cost of Nexium 40 mg was $3.58, whereas in part 2, the cost of Nexium 24HR was $1,827.30. The difference in the prices between the two drugs was statistically significant (p < 0.05).
Conclusions:The two drugs are used for the treatment of adult patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) who are being treated with an oral antidiarrheal medication, including Nexium 40 mg, compared with Advil 24HR. These two drugs are more expensive, but the difference between the two drugs is statistically significant.
